Nutrition & Food Access

Including School  and Community Food Access

Nutrition, coupled with physical activity,  is the cornerstone of healthy outcomes for children and families.  In addition to supporting healthy weight, good nutrition supports a healthy immune system and reduces risk for disease or other health complications.  Healthy eating provides the fuel and energy for overall wellbeing, including academic functioning.

The pages of this site will provide information related to school food services; as well as,  food access in the community and resources for assistance.

The school meal waivers provided during the last two school years,  allowing universal free school meals at any school district throughout the state, has been extended for the 2022-2023 school year!

Even though meals will be free for all, it is very important for families to still complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for 2022-2023,  which allows our district to establish eligibility for P-EBT benefits and other school programs.

MyPlate tools help structure nutritional meals.    The myplate.gov site at the US Department of Agriculture provides resources about incorporating food groups into meals, including recipes and activities.
