Brave Families -
I hope this communication finds you all enjoying family time, keeping cool, and still enjoying summer activities. Soon - 36 days (yes - weekends were counted) - our Brave family will be coming together to start the 2024-2025 school year! For those of you that would like to start preparing, I hope that the following information will help. I will be sending out updates in July in order to keep you in touch with needs, changes, and opportunities for you and your Brave to attend.
Until then, enjoy your summer!
Brenda Riebkes
BCI Principal
I am sure by now you know that Bear Creek Parkway has been under construction this summer. At this time, construction is happening right in front of our front entrance. At times, you will not be able to access the front parking lot. If you are in need to enter our building, you are invited to park on the north side of campus (Phillips Dr.) and walk to Door 1 where you will have access to connect with a front office staff member, or you could choose to give us a call at 817-744-3650. We are so sorry for this inconvenience.
All of our returning students should have received an email from Keller ISD yesterday containing the Info Snap needed to confirm registration for the 24-25 school year. In this email, your SNAPCODE was given. This email was sent to the guardian listed first in the parent portal.
If you did not receive this email, please contact Staci Hubert, BCI's campus secretary, at staci.hubert@kellerisd.net and she will be happy to help!
If you are NOT returning to our campus next year and need to withdraw, please reach out to Staci Hubert via email.
Can't Find The Email??
Make sure to check your SPAM/JUNK folder
Check both guardian's email
For NEW STUDENTS, enroll online: Enrollment - Keller Independent School District (kellerisd.net)
If you ordered a supply pack from our wonderful PTA, you will receive more information about where these will be delivered soon. If you did not order, no fear! Here is the supply list for each grade:

Bear Creek Intermediate will once again host the New Brave On The Block event in a couple of weeks! The main purpose of this event is for students to get to know other students before the first day of school - to hopefully take some of the nervousness of meeting others away.
You need to be registered for this event.
If you have any questions, please reach out to one of our counselors: Susan Hester (susan.hester@kellerisd.net) or Jake Seibert (jake.seibert@kellerisd.net).
We will be communicating soon when our incoming 5th graders and new 6th graders will be receiving their technology. Our returning students in 6th grade have kept their technology over the summer. Please make sure that the technology is charged and ready to go!

BRAVE NEWS
This section will have different announcements to get to know either expectations and/or for you to learn more about Bear Creek this summer. Hopefully getting information in small chunks will give you and your Brave time to review prior to school starting!
WHAT? We get our OWN locker?
We know that there is a lot of excitement when it comes to receiving a locker as well as decorating a locker - some for the FIRST time. We also know that there is a lot of apprehension of remembering the locker number as well as the combination. Please set your child's mind at ease. Teachers have had years of experience of teaching this skill as well as give plenty of time for students to practice.
If you are planning on coming up to school on Saturday, August 17th, anywhere from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for locker decoration, please follow the following expectations:
Locker dimensions: Length - 28 inches; Width - 9 3/4 inches
Refrain from adhering any decorations to the outside of the locker.
As long as items can be easily removed WITHOUT damaging the surface of the locker, it will be fine to use.
Remember that the purpose of the locker is for a safe place to store backpacks, books, etc... If the decor takes up too much space, it will defeat the main purpose of this space.
Talk through with your child how they will keep his/her locker number/combo with them throughout the day. Soo, he/she will have it memorized, however, having a plan for the first couple of weeks of where it could be stored may be a good idea.
Lockers will be given to students on the first day of school.
We have students/staff with different allergy needs - some very severe. A severe allergy is an allergy that may cause an anaphylactice reaction. A child with a serious food allergy can suffer a reaction merely by touching an allergy containing food. Therefore, we are putting the following safety guidelines into effect:
Do NOT send food that contains or may contain peanuts or tree-nuts to be eaten as a snack in the classroom. Snacks that do not contain nuts as an ingredient but say they may have been processed in a facility that has peanuts/tree-nuts will still be allowed as a snack.
Birthday parties are a special time for children, and we want to celebrate your child. If you want to send something fun to celebrate, we are requesting that you send non-food items (bubbles, pencils, stickers, etc...). Please do not send a treat containing peanuts/tree-nuts. Any treat brought into the classroom to be consumed by other students MUST be store bought with the ingredient labels attached.
Thank you for being a big part of helping keep BCI safe for all students!
