Spelling Bee Information
It’s time to begin preparations for our Bear Creek Intermediate Spelling Bee!
The Bee is open to any student at BCI who completes this permission form by Thursday, October 26, 2023.
Absences cannot, unfortunately, be made up. To be in the BCI Spelling Bee, our students must participate in the written qualifying test.
Important dates:
Friday, November 3, 2023 – Preliminary Spelling Bee – Tryouts
We will have a written spelling test for any student who would like to participate and who has turned in a signed permission slip. The Preliminary Spelling Bee is a written spelling test which will include 30 challenging words.
The top 25 (+/-) spellers from the Preliminary Spelling Bee will advance to the final BCI Spelling Bee. Students who qualify will be notified of their advancement to the school-wide oral Spelling Bee.
Thursday, December 7, 2023 – BCI Spelling Bee
The Spelling Bee will be held in the BCI Library at 9:00 a.m. Please remember, if your child is a campus winner, you are responsible for his/her transportation to the Area Spelling Bee. ☺
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Brewer at missy.brewer@kellerisd.net.
Thank you to all for supporting our students!

Student Recognition
We love to recognize our students as they continue to grow academically and also in their character. Instead of waiting to celebrate these accomplishments at the end of the year, we like to celebrate each nine weeks their accomplishments! Please see the specific awards given below.
Every 9 weeks we like to recognize students with the following:
Supper Attendance which is a minimum of 95%
AB Honor Roll
A Honor Roll
We also have monthly recognition with the following character awards:
September - Respect
October - Commitment
November - Gratitude
December - Courage
January - Responsibility
February - Kindness
March - Honesty
April - Patience
May - Teacher's Choice
CROSSWALK: In the morning, we ask you to continue to pull up to the second crosswalk where you see staff. If you do not follow this step, safety will be a high concern for students and for staff. Once it hits 7:40 AM, a staff member will then move up to the crosswalk next to the awning. You may then stop and use this crosswalk since there is now a staff member present.
Now that everyone has become familiar with our drop off/pick up lanes, you may choose the outside lane or inside line for drop off. This way, if the outside lane has less cars, you can take advantage of moving forward.
Parents who choose to walk up and meet their students may do so at the West side bike rack or the North side crosswalk. We ask that parents do not come up to the awning area where students and staff are dismissing as this may cause confusion and distracts our teachers from their duties.
