Careers Education - Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
Mid-Essex Co-operative academy (Mid-Essex CA) recognises that it has a statutory duty to provide impartial and objective Careers Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG). Mid-Essex CA is committed to providing a programme of CEIAG for all students.
A robust CEIAG programme makes a significant contribution in preparing young people for their future. CEIAG helps young people make decisions about their future pathways and build the skills required for the world of work.
We measure the impact on pupils of our CEIAG programme by:
monitoring engagement in activities throughout the year;
gathering and analysing feedback from key stakeholders including pupils, parents, carers, teachers and other school staff and employers;
analysing the percentage of pupils who leave school in Year 11 with an onward plan in place.
Mid-Essex CA work towards meeting Barnardos expectations of good quality CEIAG and improve options and outcomes for all young people. This in turn supports our young people with positive and fulfilling personal and career aspirations, raises self-esteem and improves overall emotional wellbeing. CEIAG at Mid-Essex CA is:
Face to face – not just online or over the phone
Proactive, available and accessible – there when and where young people need it
Aspirational – doesn’t limit young people’s options
Qualified – informed and impartial – avoids stereotype and judgements
Holistic – has the capacity to focus on barriers when needed
Outcome, not output focused – CEIAG at Mid-Essex CA is about working towards sustainable employment, not getting into any job.
