Mid-Essex CA offer our more independent learners one-to-one careers coaching with an adviser from the Job Centre Plus Support for Schools (JCP SfS) programme.
The goal of career coaching is to empower you by helping you make informed decisions about your post 16 pathway. It’s a solution-based approach to career decisions. Career coaches focus on actions, results, and responsibility. Career coaching will give you the 'know how' and mindset to make smart decisions and understand what you are good at, what you want from life and what opportunities are available.
JCP SfS advisers have a wealth of knowledge in relation to local labour market opportunities and links to local employers. They can support with career planning, writing CV's, applying for college, work based learning programmes and can offer support with both academic and non-academic post-16 pathways.
Mid-Essex CA careers coordinator, Mrs James will offer pupils appointments with our dedicated JCP SfS adviser, Mat Smith. These can be face to face, by telephone or online meeting.

"I have always worked in the careers and guidance sector and have enjoyed helping various groups of people get into work and education. I joined the support for schools team in 2016 as I wanted to help students find their dream career and support them in making important decisions about their future goals. I understand that it is really difficult to make decisions about careers and for many young people career planning can be a very daunting experience. I am friendly and will support every student in finding their potential and help them make the steps that they need to succeed".
