CET 720 - Leading Evaluation and Change in the Educational Technology Environment
Course Description: Methods and principles for evaluating instructional technology plans, products and participants during each stage of the instructional systems development process. The course applies change theory as a basis for understanding the adoption and use of educational technology tools strategies and procedures.
Reflection:
This course had two main focuses:
1) leadership within the context of educational technology
2) evaluating and making decisions about educational technology
We created a leadership and innovation project. For my project, I presented at St. Mary High School to the faculty with a presentation created by me on The Innovator's Mindset. The focus was on student perceptions of mindsets and how to foster change. This project allowed me to be reflective in my experiences and take risks in order to present to the faculty I work with.
We then began evaluating and leading with educational technology by incorporating reflective opportunities for my own professional development through the use of a blog. We read the book "The EdTech Advocate's Guide to Leading Change in Schools" by Mark Gura to help drive our discussions through posts. For my Evaluation Project I chose to create a Technology Plan Needs Infographic. I included 10 areas that are necessary to consider when creating a Technology Plan for your school.
As a final project of the course, we created an "Ignite Talk" to recap the information covered throughout the semester.
Areas of Learning:
Mindset-fixed, growth, and innovator's
Innovation, invention and iteration
Being a leader
Frameworks and models of education transformation
Wakelet for curating resources
Infographic
Technology Plan Needs
Ignite talk
