Course Description: A study of technology hardware and networks used in the educational setting. Topics include hardware maintenance purchase and upgrade, network wiring, topologies, planning, installation, and maintenance of computer networks. This course requires a 6-day summer on-campus residency.
Key Takeaways: I chose to focus my presentaion on iPads because I teach at an Apple Distinguished School. All students are one to one with iPads. This class dove into the deeper functionings of not only iPads but also different computers and laptops. Understanding how these machines run has helped me implement them in my classroom more effectively. The on-campus residency allowed me to garner hands on experience with taking apart desktops and laptops. In addition, I got to tour technology help desks are repair areas at both DSU and the Madison School District.
Artifact: Technology Presentation
This presentation was created with a small scale research project. It also served as a reflection piece about effective iPad implementation in the classroom.
