About Me:
I grew up in Ojai, California, on the campus of the boarding school where my parents taught. My mom was my high school principal, my dad was my high school athletic director, and my grandmother was my first-grade teacher—so I’m a third-generation educator who has spent my entire life in secondary schools. I studied Art and Anthropology at Dartmouth College, earned my Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2021, and am now pursuing my MFA through the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Low-Residency program. In 2019, I moved to Oʻahu for my first teaching job at Waiʻanae High School, where I taught for six years before starting here at Roosevelt. I take arts education seriously because I know that, in art, students are often using modes of creative expression to work through the most urgent and meaningful ideas in their lives. This process calls for an environment that encourages critical thinking, technical growth, and the freedom to experiment—while also feeling safe enough to express ideas openly and honestly. I’m continually inspired by the insights and creativity my students bring to the classroom, and I’m grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me to guide them. I’m committed to supporting their growth as artists and people and respecting the depth of their inner worlds.
