Flyers for you
A letter from the Superintendent of Education was sent home the week of May 10th with your child regarding the School Quality Survey. We are asking for your help in giving us feedback that we can use for continuous improvement.
This is your opportunity to share your perspective about your child's safety and well-being, and your satisfaction and involvement/engagement in our school's activities. This year, the Hawaii Department of Education has a few additional questions related to your child's learning in this COVID-19 context. The online survey should take about 10 minutes to complete. One parent can submit one survey per child. We appreciate your time and contributions to our school community by completing and submitting the School Quality Survey for us, on or before May 28.
Next week is National Physical Education and Sport Week (May 1 - May 7). And it's a great time to announce that the Maui District 5th Grade Virtual Fitness Day events are ready to go! Use it for a fun family fun challenges, physical activity breaks, the possibilities are endless! Most of all, have fun with it. Thanks to the PE Departments and PE teachers that volunteered to make videos for the various events.

November Newsletter
Aloha Parents/Guardians,
It has been so encouraging to see our students back on campus this past week for blended learning. Unfortunately, as many of you are quite likely aware, there has been a recent surge of COVID-19 cases on Maui. Based on the 7-day average case counts over the past two weeks, the Department of Health (DOH) guidance indicates our students should now be Learning from Home.
Therefore, it is with heartfelt disappointment that I announce our Blended Learning Model will be on hold until further notice. I must honor the expertise of our health officials regarding student and staff safety as well as the wishes of our staff who also have families of their own to protect.
Effective immediately, our school will be following the 100% Distance Learning Model for most students until the DOH Metrics indicate that it is safe for us to return to a less restrictive model. My sincerest hope is that this will be a brief and temporary suspension.
Please know that I will continue to be available to you for any questions or concerns that you may have.
With Aloha,
Rebecca Winkie, PhD
Principal

In November, students in Grades 3-5 will be asked to complete the 2020-2021 Panorama Student Survey to provide student perspectives of classroom and whole school experiences. This survey is voluntary; however, your child’s views are important to ensure a quality educational system. We ask for your assistance in encouraging your child to participate and respond honestly to the survey questions. Individual student answers are confidential and will not be tracked. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please print out and complete the attached declination form (available in English and Hawaiian) to be returned to your child's teacher by October 30.
