Aloha,
Hawaiian Electric is pleased to announce a new statewide assistance program to help qualifying families recover from the economic hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hawai‘i Utility Bill Assistance Program will help Hawaiʻi residents financially affected by the pandemic with past due electric, water, sewer and gas utility payments. The program was established with $2 million of HEI shareholder funds to be administered through Aloha United Way in partnership with local United Way chapters. Applications will be accepted on a first come first served basis through the Aloha United Way website (https://www.auw.org/utilityhelp) beginning on Feb. 8, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. (We encourage interested customers to wait until that time to go to the website so as not to impact the system before the launch.)
Eligible residential customers can receive a one-time assistance grant of up to $750, depending on income and other qualifications. Payments for approved applications will be disbursed directly to one or multiple utility companies.
Currently Hawaiian Electric has suspended its service disconnections for nonpayment through March 31, 2021 and is also working with customers to set up payment plans.
We are excited to announce Princess Nahienaena Elementary School's participation in the Seamless Summer Option meal program for Quarter 2 (October 12 - December 18, 2020):
All children 18 years and younger in the community will be served meals at no charge.
Parents/guardians may pick up meals on behalf of their children by presenting a valid ID for each child (current school ID, birth certificate, official letter/email from school, or recent report card).
Two meals (breakfast and lunch) will be served at the same time, during the designated lunch service. The breakfast is intended to be a meal for the next school day.
Curbside distribution of this Multi-Meal Grab & Go Kiosk Service will be from 10:30-11:30 AM at Lahaina Intermediate School.
Please see attached lunch & breakfast menus for October.
This is an organic, living list curated by the community. It is a compiled list of resources and opportunities to help our community stay connected to the widely held goal of a thriving lāhui.
