GRADES & TRANSCRIPTS

GRADING

Students and parents can view grades, unofficial transcripts and graduation status through the StudentVue or ParentVue Portal at any time.

Year-long classes are taken in two semesters referred to as fall semester and spring semester.  Students earn 5 credits per semester totaling 10 credits per year-long class.

Each semester there are three grading periods. Progress reports are snapshots of academic progress toward final grades that are sent to families at the end of each grading period. Final grades appear on transcripts and are finalized at the end of the third grading period.

For high school graduation requirements, students earn credit for D grades or higher. To meet college admission requirements, students must earn a C grade or higher. For D or F grades, if a student repeats the same course, the higher grade will replace the lower grade in the GPA calculation although both courses and grades remain on the transcript (Off campus courses may be averaged into the GPA). Withdraw/W's are not factored into the GPA calculation.

Question about a grade?

If you have a questions about grades. Please contact the teacher of that class directly. Their contact information can be accessed by using the staff directory located on the main OHS website.

There are four types of GPA on the OHS transcript: Weighted, Academic, Unweighted, and UC 10-12. Ask your counselor if you would like to know more about these GPA calculations.

For college admissions, each college determines its own GPA calculation formula for admission.

For example, the California State University (CSU)/University of California (UC) admission GPA is based on coursework from summer after 9th through summer after 11th grade in all “A-G” approved courses. (Pluses and minuses do not count.) Students may earn an extra point for each semester of a UC weighted course, with a maximum of 8 points between 10th and 11th grades. Check college admission websites for specific information provided directly by the college.
