CONCENTRATOR COURSE

DANCE 1: COMPOSITION 

This is an introductory dance (Performing Arts/CTE) course for students who have little to no background or training in dance. Students can develop an awareness of correct body alignment, increase physical coordination and flexibility, balance and agility when performing simple to complex movement phrases. Students can develop a refined appreciation for different dance forms and their history including ballet, jazz, theater dance, modern, hip hop, recreational dance workout, West African, Afro Cuban and Brazilian dance, and Salsa. This course will explore various life and career skills necessary, including developing music and video editing skills, and promotes creative thought and critical thinking. This course is part of the Arts, Media, and Entertainment Pathway for Performing Arts. 

CAPSTONE COURSE

DANCE 2: PRODUCTION 

This is an intermediate level Performing Arts (CTE) course designed as a continuation of dance education that will allow students a deeper understanding of dance, along with developing intermediate to advanced technical accuracy, performance experience, choreographic prowess, and career skills. Students can refine their appreciation for ballet, jazz, theater dance, modern, hip hop, recreational dance workout, West African, Afro Cuban and Brazilian dance, and Salsa. This course will explore various life and career skills necessary, including developing music and video editing skills, and promotes creative thought and critical thinking.
