Destinations from the WHL

Introduction

Teachers provided students with information about the role of UNESCO, with a special focus on the World Heritage List, the promoting and preserving activities of the World Heritage Committee and on the impact that the enrollment in the WH List means for a town or a region.

Students' Work

After the first introductory activities, the work of students consists in:

  • choosing an item from the WH List
  • understanding why the site/heritage is included; UNESCO WHL criteria
  • studying the documents provided on the WHC web site (reports, Advisory Board evaluations...)
    • at school, in the computer lab, with teachers as facilitators
    • at home to fix layout, contents, language
  • making a presentation to the class
