What should I do if I need a doctor to visit me at night time or during weekends?
How do I find a family doctor?
You are appointed a family doctor as soon as possible after your arrival, according to where you live. You will need to go see your doctor when have a health issue which is not an emergency or if you need prescriptions/referrals. Most doctors work on a walk-in basis, but some doctors want appointments to be taken. Together with your doctor’s registration card, you will also receive the details of the opening hours of his/her surgery.
Once you have been allocated to a family doctor, each time you go to him/her at the surgery, you will need to carry with you your doctor’s registration card, your codice fiscale and your ID. You will also need to carry with you your: TEAM card . TEAM card is the electronic health card, that you will receive, by post, normally within a month after registering with the national health system.
PLEASE NOTE:
If you do not receive your TEAM card within two months after your registration with the national health system, please inform the HR office or the Main Office, so that we can assist you getting a duplicate.
Remember that, every time you are at home sick, you need to see/call your doctor and get a sick note (protocol number) for the duration of your sick leave, in order to be paid for those days.
The protocol number needs to be communicated to HR asap. You need to be on sick leave for the whole duration of the note, and available at home from 1000 to 1200 and from 1700 to 1900 every day, including weekends and festivities if covered by your sick notes.
