incoming exchanges roles + responsibilities
Below we outline the roles and responsibilities divided between the College of LAS and the academic unit(s).
LAS IP is responsible
Student advising: general application, course availability, campus info (health insurance, housing, airport transport) signs forms for home institution.
Manages exchange agreement with partner institution + Illinois admin
Promotion (materials, in coordination w/ partner)
Communicates w/ exchange partners re nominated students, application info + agreement
Application cycle (review + notification)
Works with International Admissions (IA) to ensure application and immigration docs are complete
Assigns each exchange student to an academic advisor/unit based on which courses the student intends to take/home field of study.
Works with Illinois International, ISSS, and other campus partners to organize exchange student orientation at beginning of each semester
Unit is responsible
Academic advising: advising for each exchange student assigned to the unit. This includes communications with students pre-arrival re course choices and availability.
