International Mother Language Day (अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय मातृभाषा दिवस)

IIT Jodhpur celebrated International Mother Language Day (अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय मातृभाषा दिवस) on 21 February 2020 with colorful cultural performances by the students, staff, and faculty members. The event began with an introduction to the historical significance of the celebration and the United Nation’s resolution on protection and preservation of mother languages across the world. The event witnessed soulful recitations in Hindi (by students Dipendrasingh Kain, Navin Kumar, Rahul Singh), Rajasthani (by Mr. Naresh Chouhan), and Bangla (by the Director, Prof. Santanu Chaudhury). Diversity in languages of the country was celebrated through songs in Telegu (by Dr. Kshema Prakash and Ms. Saran Prakash), Gujarati (by Dhirajkumar Patanvadiya), and Bangla (by Rittwika Pan, Shubham Agrawal, Dr. Prodyut Chakraborty and Dr. Prasenjit Tribhuvan). A classical Kathak dance on a multilingual song was performed by Manasi Khobragade, Sristi Jain, and Anupama Patel. The event concluded with the multilingual song ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ by Kalyani M Sawai, Kartik Aggarwal, Nikhil Mitawa, Devanshi Parmar (B.Tech., I Year), Dr. Kshema Prakash, and Dr. Rajlaxmi Chouhan.
