On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 2020 and 150 Years of Mahatama Celebrations, the Institute organized a 3-day Gandhi Film Festival on days leading upto October 02. On October 02, we had an invited talk by Raman Magsaysay Awardee, Dr. Sandeep Pandey, along with some cultural performances by our students, a tree plantation drive and presentation by the Campus Green Committee.

Gandhi Film Festival (29 Sep - 01 Oct 2020 at 7 PM)

29 Sep

7:00 pm: Introduction to the Film Festival by Dr. Parichay Patra

7:15 pm: Screening of the movie Koormavatara (Girish Kasaravalli, 2011)

Anand Rao, an aged government employee resembling Gandhi is forced to play the role of Gandhi in an upcoming serial. Though it brings him fame and money, his mental peace and morality is hindered. He is torn between Gandhian principles he used to follow innocently and vested interests of others who want to take advantage of his situation.


30 Sep at 7:00 pm: Screening of the movie Lage Raho Munna Bhai (Rajkumar Hirani, 2006)

A gangster hopelessly falls in love with a radio jockey but lies to her about being a true Gandhian. Although he ends up hurting her, he also undergoes a change and genuinely begins helping people.


01 Oct at 7:00 pm: Screening of the movie Gandhi (Richard Attenborough, 1982)

A lawyer, Mohandas Gandhi, returns to British India from South Africa. He begins a nationwide campaign of nonviolent resistance against British rule, pressuring Britain to liberate India.
