Greetings! I am Emily Lien, a rising junior enrolled at I-Shou International School (IIS), and it is my utmost honor to be serving as your Secretary-General of IISMUN I this year. Ever since I started my MUN journey in Grade 6, I soon fell in love with the intense debate, the excitement of seeing delegates raising their placards to defend their country stances, and to realize that MUN is also a platform to form friendships that will follow you for the rest of your school life. IISMUN I will be my 28th conference and third time being a Secretariat. I hope everyone can enjoy IISMUN, grow as both a global citizen and a debater, and embrace the memories made along this conference! Feel free to contact me at emily.lien@iis.kh.edu.tw or @_emilyyl.21 on Instagram if you have any questions or concerns regarding the conference, and I will do my best to help. Apart from MUN, I also enjoy reading, writing, and watching anime. I am looking forward to seeing you all in December!
Hi! My name is Jemima Wooden, a rising junior at I-Shou International School, and it is my utmost honour to serve as a DSG for IISMUN I. 12 year old me would never believe me if I told her she'd grow from a shy delegate to such an active member of MUN, so don't be worried if you start slow. IISMUN I is going to be my 17th conference but first time being part of a secretariat team, so fingers crossed that everything goes well. The rest of the working team and I put a lot of time and effort into this conference so I hope you guys enjoy it! Outside of MUN, I enjoy drawing, baking, binging tv shows, refusing to do my math homework, and playing brawl stars (lowk bad at it but I'm trying my best ðŸ˜). Feel free to come up to me or any other member of the secretariat team if you have any questions or just wanna chat. See ya!
Greetings! I am Joshua Roh, a rising fourth-year student from Taipei European School. After 28 conferences and six experiences on organising teams, I am honoured to return to where my MUN journey started, serving as a Deputy Secretary-General.
I remember walking into STMUN XI, six years ago. Sitting squarely on the bottom of the MUN learning curve (and also in the corner during lobbying), I had no idea what was going on. I made one speech and thought I had completely embarrassed myself in this room of older students.
I still can’t believe that after sixteen-year history, I attended the final STMUN. When I graduate in a few months time, this MUN community will be gone. Etched into my memory, but irretrievable otherwise.
As we turn over to a new chapter, I urge you to think about why you do MUN.Â
I have complete trust of this talented and experienced team to empower the voices of less confident delegates. But while we debate in our branded suits, nestled safely in a private school, let’s also empower those in Sudan, in understaffed schools in the Global South, in the exploited migrants population. Let’s carry this theme into the world, beyond this conference.
Honourable delegates and chairs,
My name is Angelina Chen, a rising junior at Dominican International School, and it is my utmost pleasure and honour to serve as a DSG for this year’s IISMUN.Â
MUN, to me, is not just a 2 day conference for tireless debate, but a forum between the future leaders to discuss global issues, innovating ideas, and the future of the world. Through these years of MUN, I can not help but look back at the significance it played in my life. It has nurtured the skills needed in academic environments and further expanded my knowledge in global issues.
Besides MUN, I also enjoy playing games, eating, and drawing octopus. I hope that MUN will not be just a debate activity, but a community where you can make friends with like-minded individuals.
I look forward to seeing you all in December!
Hello I am Chloe, a rising junior from Kang Chiao International School Xiugang Campus. It is my utmost pleasure to serve as your Deputy Security General for IISMUN I. I vividly recall feeling terrified and clueless at my first conference, even resorting to chewing gum to stay focused and awake. Over time, MUN has built my confidence to voice my opinions. I am super excited to return to IIS as a past IIS student, and continue my MUN journey from where it all started. I hope IISMUN inspires and motivates every delegate, whether you are continuing your MUN journey or just starting out. Aside from MUN, I enjoy art, Netflix, eating, orchestra, piano, blind boxes, and annoying my sister. I have a soft spot for frogs (Ricky Rain Frog from Jellycat) and am a big fan of Billie Eilish. See you then!
