Empowering Voices for the Silenced

The 2025 IISMUN conference theme is Empowering Voices of the Silenced. In an era of turbulence, ongoing conflicts, and deepening polarization between parties, voices of the world have been scattered and silenced. Multiple groups are muted for the benefits of others, and countless individuals lack the ability to advocate for their rights and needs. Under the acceleration of globalization and our presence in the fast-paced society, we easily overlook the power our voice holds, and how by simply uplifting the voices of those around us, means to solve conflicts and overcome hardships exist. This year’s theme, Empowering Voices of the Silenced, sought to remind ourselves of the core value of Model United Nations: advocacy. As we gather at I-Shou International School to celebrate the art of diplomacy, collaboration, and dialogue between nations, we hope to see each and every one of the participants embrace the theme, empower the voices of those around them, and speak up for what they believe.
