Last Friday, January 24, the closing ceremony of the Erasmus Time to Act Green program, of which the Institute has been the organizer, took place at the Institut Fonts del Glorieta in Alcover. This program, aimed at reflecting on environmental issues and implementing criteria of sustainability, biodiversity, responsible consumption and climate resilience both within the Institute and in the immediate environment, has had participants from different countries such as Croatia, Turkey and Italy, with which we have shared actions and lines of work.
Projects have been implemented at the Institute such as the selective collection of waste, the vegetable garden, the advent garden, the construction of dry stone walls, the planting of an edible forest, the collection of rainwater for irrigation and reflection on elements such as ventilation and lighting that have culminated in the establishment of energy consumption guidelines. These projects have planted a seed that will surely continue to germinate in the operation and educational project of the Institute.
The event was attended by Alcover mayor Robert Figueras, as well as representatives of some of the organizations and companies that have collaborated: Expomat Alcover, Canteras la Ponderosa, Cator, Pere Martí excavations and Q-verd jardins , who have provided us with materials and tools to carry out the infrastructures that should help us with sustainability. Help in knowledge came from the Relleu i Entorn organization, which offered us a course in making dry stone walls, and the association for the Conservation of Natural Ecosystems (CEN), which provided us with its knowledge in different projects. The students who are members of the Institute's Green Schools committee also attended, as well as the Green Delegates, the participants in the mobility of the Time to Act Green project and all the teaching staff and staff of the Institute who had collaborated. Without their effort and dedication it would not have been possible to complete the project and even exceed expectations.
