Tally charts

Tally charts are a fast and reliable way to collect data. They are particularly useful because it is easy to see how many results you have collected for each class.


Objectives:

  1. Learn how to record results on a tally chart.

  2. Know how to work out the classes for a tally chart.

Copy the following paragraph:


A tally chart is a simple way of recording and counting frequencies. Each occurrence is shown by a tally mark and every fifth tally is drawn diagonally to make a “gate” of five. The tallies can then be counted to give the frequency.
