In the first half of the Autumn term, our class explored the exciting topics of 'This is Me' and Autumn. Through the 'This is Me' theme, we celebrated what makes us unique, looking at our families and homes andexploring our favourite things. Alongside this, we discovered the wonderful changes that happen during Autumn. The children enjoyed exploring Autumn objects, creative crafts with autumn leaves, and reinacting the 'We're Going on a Leaf Hunt' story. These topics helped us learn more about ourselves and the world around us, while having lots of fun along the way!
In the second half of the Autumn term, we explored the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Our learners, explored the story using sensory objects and sound buttons to develop their attention and interaction skills. We had great fun making and tasting porridge and exploring porridge sensory trays. As we moved towards the festive season, our learning focussed on Christmas, we took part in fun crafts and seasonal sensory activities. We also invited our families to our annual LRB christmas event, which was very well attended and we all had a great afternoon.
This half term, our LRB learners have explored the topic, 'Into the Woods'. We explored the traditional tales 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff', through a range of sensory activities. We particularly enjoyed exploring a Billy Goats Gruff edible sensory tray. Through both stories, we had many opportunities to practise our mark making skills, using our fingers and a range of mark making implements.
We used our hands and our feet to explore a range of materials, linked to each of the stories, and we explored how materials changed when we made goats milk fudge and icing to decorate pig biscuits, we loved tasting them too!
