The main character's name in this week's story is 'Drysi draenog'. This is called alliteration (cyflythreniad). Alliteration is when words start with the same letters / sounds. List the names of the characters and try to use and adjective to describe them. How about thinking of adjectives that alliterate with their names too?

Diwrnod Crefyddau'r Byd / World Religions Day

Today we are going to solve sums on fractions of a number. In the same way, we need to divide by 2 to find 1/2 (half) and divide by 4 to find 1/4 (quarter). Sometimes you will need to multiply by 3 to find 3/4 ( three quarters). Look at the example below.

This week we have been looking at speech marks and what different characters would say in this story. Your task today is to write a short conversation between two or more characters in the story.

You may start your conversation by using the template below or begin a new one yourselves.

Remember the important things to remember when writing a conversation:

  • Speech marks (" ") are needed before somebody speaks and after they have finished speaking.

  • Use a capital letter to begin your sentences and for the names of the characters.

  • Try to vary the way the characters speak i.e. 'whispered', 'shouted', 'screamed' etc.

" There isn't enough room here, in this hedge!" said Drysi the hedgehog.

"But I would like us to be together!" cried Ystrad the bat.

"Don't worry" whispered Filomena, the queen bee, to him.

Tasg: Adeiladwch gartref newydd i Lliwen a Lleu gan ddefnyddio eitemau o amgylch y tŷ neu'r ardd. Cofiwch fod rhaid iddo fod yn gryf, fel bod y gwynt ddim yn ei chwythu i lawr.

Come and watch Lliwen and Lleu, two little mice looking for a new home. Strong winds threaten to spoil things, but their friends come to help them.

Task: Build a new home for Lliwen and Lleu using items from around the house or garden. Remember it has to be strong, so that the wind doesn't blow it down.

Feelings: There are many feelings that we experience every day e.g. we feel happy, sad, scared, nervous or cross etc. Have you felt all of these feelings before?

Happiness to me: Draw a picture or write about what happiness means to you. What makes you feel happy? How do you feel on the inside? Is there a person, an animal or a place that makes you feel happy?

If you feel sad sometimes, what can you do to make you feel happy?

Roedd gweld y barcud yn hedfan yn yr awyr wedi codi calon Daf. Fe ddiflannodd ei hwyliau drwg gyda’r gwynt. Beth am greu hosan wynt i hedfan fel y barcud? Bydd angen rholyn tŷ bach, stribedi papur lliw (neu bapur gwyn wedi ei liwio) a llinyn arnoch. Ar ôl gorffen, ewch â'r hosan wynt y tu allan i’w weld yn dawnsio yn y gwynt.

Seeing the kite flying in the air had cheered Daf up. His bad mood disappeared with the wind. Why not create a windsock to fly like the kite? You will need a toilet roll tube, coloured paper strips (or coloured in white paper) and string. When finished, take the windsock outside to see it dancing in the wind.
