Routine procedures were carried out in order to come to a judgement about the nature and context of the school which then lead to identifying a suitable curriculum.
The following procedures were put in place in order to engage with main stakeholders: pupils, parents, carers, governors, the professional community and the wider community:
· Pupil forums
· Pupil questionnaires
· Forums and questionnaires for parents
· Governing body discussions
· The national healthy schools questionnaire
· Processes such as work scrutiny and the effect of pedagogy on learning standards
· Processes such as reflecting on teaching which includes lesson observations, learning walks and the effect of pedagogy on learning standards.
· Feedback from Gwe and the comments of previous head teachers.
The school’s evaluation processes have been adapted for the last two years using the four purposes as a basis to this work. The curriculum will be continuously adapted and the outcomes of the above processes will give an indication of any changes needed. The effect of the provision on learning and progress will be the measure of success.
Working closely with the primary sector, adopting the ‘Nurturing Schools’ programme and concepts such as 'growth mindset' and the work of authors such as Shirley Clarke, Tom Sherrington and Barrack Rosenshine have all influenced us significantly as a learning organisation on our journey to presenting Curriculum for Wales.
