The Llewellyns of Baglan Hall
This is the Llewellyn Coat of Arms. The Latin translation means "one and the same" suggesting that the Llewellyn family belonged in the village of Baglan.

Griffith Llewellyn (1769 - 1822)
The first Griffith Llewellyn was known to be the first Llewellyn to reside at Baglan Hall in 1816, after the death of his father -in-law Thomas Jones. Griffith Llewellyn was married to Catharine in 1794. They had two daughters (Catharine and Elizabeth) and four sons (Thomas John, Hopkin, Griffith the second and William). He was a lawyer
Catharine Llewellyn (1764 - 1840)
Catharine Llewellyn (Catharine Jones) was the daughter of Thomas Jones, the previous owner of Baglan Hall. Catharine was the heiress of Baglan Hall when she married Griffith Llewellyn.

1802 - 1888
Griffith Llewellyn the second inherited the Hall after the death of his parents. In 1850 Griffith II married Madeline Georgina Grenfell who was from Swansea. They did not have any children.

1826 - 1903
Madelina was originally from Swansea from As stated above, Madelina married Griffith Llewellyn in October 1850. The wedding day was a day of festivity for the villagers. Madelina is described as 'the most benevolent lady in the County of Glamorgan'.
Llewellyns of Court Colman, Bridgend
As Griffith and Madelina (see above) did not have any children, Baglan Hall was left to William Llewellyn II of Court Colman, Bridgend, who was Griffith's cousin, He then passed the hall to his second born son Robert (See below). Griffith lived in Baglan Hall until his death in 1910. His wife, Harriet lived in the hall until 1952.

William was the cousin to whom Griffith Llewellyn bequeathed Baglan Hall. He was married in 1844 to Eleanor Emma Knight. They had 5 daughters and two sons, the older son being Robert William Llewellyn. Baglan Hall was then left to Robert (see below).
