Baglan Hall
Baglan Hall
Baglan Hall was built sometime in the 16th century. Estimations of the hall being built are between 1558 - 1625. The first owner of Baglan Hall were the Thomas family but unfortunately, not a great deal is known about the family. The house was then sold to Thomas John Esq. who bequeathed the Hall to his daughter Catherine. Catherine married Thomas Jones Esq., and their only child Catharine, married Griffith Llewellyn Esq.
The Hall was demolished in 1958 with the grounds preserved by Port Talbot Borough Council. The grounds where the hall stood is now the houses in Maple Avenue and Baglan Park were the grounds of Baglan Hall.

Memories of Baglan Hall
Information and memories of Baglan Hall provided by Mrs Judith Rees
The original trees from Baglan Hall are still in the park now.
The front lodge was on the main road. The gate lodge was kept by Mr and Mrs Haywood. They were then given the first house in Fairwood Drive when houses were built there. The back lodge was kept by Miss Dorothy (the kernel’s sister), this lodge was near The Travellers. Mr Pool was the gardener. Miss Dorothy was a Girl Guides leader in the grounds of the hall.
There were green houses in the grounds where they grew grapes and other fruit.
There was a Laundry and Staff Quarters as the staff lived at Baglan Hall. Kernel and Lady Llewellyn employed staff from all over the country.
There was an annual fete that took place at the Hall in the 1960s and 1970s.
The path in Baglan park today was the original road. The flat part of the park is where the house was.
The Hall later became derelict and there had been fires there.
