Wow, what a quick and busy term!
This term, Year 3 has been looking at the theme ‘How the world Works’, with the central idea being: forces and movement cause a process of cause and effect. With the ideas of natural disasters, rocks, soil and forces being focused on. Children have been able to identify a range of different natural disasters and how they may occur around the world. They started by developing their research skills by looking at various natural disasters, then narrowed their search by focusing on volcanoes and earthquakes. Throughout the term, children have been exploring how volcanoes and earthquakes happen, created artwork linked to those natural disasters, made models that represent what happens to buildings during an earthquake and completed some great pieces of writing linked to the impact that these natural disasters cause.
In Maths, children have been focusing on fractions, mass and capacity, length and perimeter. They have been learning how to use pictograms and how we can use them to represent specific information. The skills that have been developed during Maths lessons have been able to be transferred into other elements of the children’s learning such as computing.
Have a lovely Easter and myself and Miss Channon will see you in term 5!
