It has been a short term but we have really covered a lot in our learning in Attenborough class.
We started the term with poetry week and we looked at the poem 'The Highwayman' written by Alfre Noyes. Students were really engaged with the narrative poem and enjoyed learning about the poetry devices used; exploring vocabulary choices; making inferences about implied meaning and characters' feelings, and performing the poem as a class.
Our learning has been linked to our central idea relating to having a healthy lifestyle and how our lifestyle choices can affect the world we live in, and humans physically. We have found out about the different types of energy in Geography and how renewable energy is much better for the environment. In PSHE and science lessons, we have looked at different drugs, both legal and illegal, and how these can have a positive and negative impact on our bodies and lives. Children worked collaboratively to create interactive A1 posters on healthy lifestyles, which also included information on diet and exercise. They included information texts, exercise videos, health questionnaires, quizzes and websites that they had created showcasing their learning.
In maths, we have focussed on ratio, algebra and decimals this term and children have completed a variety of fluency and reasoning tasks. We continue to work hard to improve confidence and efficiency in solving a variety of problems to ensure children are prepared for the SATs in May. Children are strongly encouraged to increase the amount of work and revision that is completed at home to help with this.
