When will my student begin school?

Following completion of the student enrollment process, the Learning Coach will receive communication from K12-confirmation@k12.com confirming the student’s enrollment and start date.

Additionally, the Learning Coach will receive an email from registration@k12.com . 

All communication is sent to the email address provided during student registration. It is important that this is an active email account. It is important to check your email often, as this is the main means of communication from K12 (and MNVA). 

(If your student has a start date with MNVA after Sept. 5, 2023) Does my student have to attend school somewhere else until starting with MNVA?

Yes. MNVA begins the school year on Sept. 5, 2023. If your student is enrolled to start with MNVA after Sept. 5, 2023, your student must be attending school somewhere else until his/her official first day of school at MNVA. 

Example, your student is beginning with MNVA on January 23, 2024. Your student must be enrolled and attending another school through January 22, 2024, per MN attendance statutes. Students who fail to attend school during the transition may be considered truant with the district of residence. Please communicate with your school district if you have any concerns regarding truancy and let the district know the student’s MNVA start date. 

Does my student need a computer and internet access on the first day of school?

Yes. Daily access to the internet and a computer is part of our school day/daily schooling requirements. You are choosing to enroll your student in an online school. Your student is expected to have access to a computer and internet access on their first day of school.  Your student must have access to a computer and the internet to meet schooling requirements.  Please contact the MNVA office if you wish to request a school issued device. Please email: info@hsd294.us  . Your student will need to have other access to a computer (go to the public library, etc) to complete online lessons and attend online classes until the school issued computer arrives. 

What if the internet goes out or there are technical issues with the computer that affect my student's ability to complete schooling.

You are choosing to enroll your student in an online school. Your student must have access to a computer and the internet to meet schooling requirements. That being stated, we recognize that there may be technical situations that arise. It is important to have backup plans for when technology may not be working as planned. Ideas to consider: a public library, nearby family or friends, or neighbors. 

What should I do to prepare for the first day of school?

When will my student's teacher contact me?

Teachers are not assigned until a few days prior to the school year beginning. Students who enroll during the school year will be assigned to a teacher a few years prior to the cohort start date. You may contact the MNVA Office with any questions. The MNVA phone numbers is: 866-215-2292, option 3.
