...The program where you get the help you need to improve your voice! This program is dedicated to helping you understand your voice, explore your vocal range, learn some basic piano skills, and perfect performance techniques. Vocals is both independent and dependent. You get to explore the music you want to learn to sing and will sing in groups to learn all about harmonies!
Grade 10 Vocals: This course is where you learn all the basics; reading music, how to properly warm up, taking care of your voice, performance techniques, and basic piano skills. If you aren’t great in front of crowds, this course will help you get comfortable with yourself! We do all the little things to help you improve. Within this course, you also learn about all voice types, different genres of vocal music, and even some extended techniques! As a vocalist, you will learn how to pick music to sing that fits YOU! We end the semester off with a reflection of how far we have come and of course…. Perform at our end-of-term concert!
Grade 11/12 Vocals: This course is more practical and we spend a lot more time singing and developing our voices. We definitely expand our knowledge from the Gr. 10 course, but things get a little more complex. Here, you research, practice, and get feedback on the music you want to sing! You also have to participate in group singing. Other aspects of this course are recording experiences, more performance opportunities, and songwriting!
