Canvas Course for PHMS Faculty and Staff
From the beginning of the school year, the VILS Coach and Campus Leadership have worked together to set clear technology expectations and provide training on our new LMS, Canvas. Our staff are all enrolled in our Patrick Henry course where teachers upload weekly lesson plans and have access to important resources, including previous PD materials.
Additionally, our administration are able to access the Assignments to view all teacher lesson plans to check for technology integrations and provide coaching or relevant feedback.
YEAR 3 ACTION STEPS
Campus admin kicked off Leadership Retreat with Teambuilding.
Our TLC joined the Retreat to set the standards of instructional priorities and EXCELLENCE!
EOY Progress: As the year progressed, the VILS Coach worked to support teachers with the TIM and TIM-O, providing Open Lab times for teachers and administrators to come in and see how the matrix works and make connections to the T-TESS rubric in a variety of areas! This
This year we are rebuilding our TLC and have started with 3 members. Each member brings varied experience and technology expertise that they are each eager to share among their colleagues.
Mr. Guzman eagerly shares all the new technology he is learning this year with his colleagues, from Cleverboard basics to using tech he learns as he works with his students!
Mr. Pertile, our Lab Mentor, will be working with our Coach to prepare training in the second semester for our Immersive Lab, showcasing the things his students are doing, and helping to support our goal of 100% student engagement with the lab this year.
Ms. Angers has already started leading PD on Canvas and ways she uses technology to enhance lessons with her students.
Ms. Angers shares how she is using tech in her classroom with teammates.
Next, take a look at some of the Immersive Lab student artifacts our teachers will learn about.
This year, our TLC member, and Lab Mentor, Mr. Pertile has worked hard not only with students, but has also supported his colleagues throughout the year.
Mr. Pertile also supported our Spanish Teacher, Ms. Medina with using the ClassVR headsets to explore Spain! Along with the Coach, he helped Ms. Medina prepare to extend learning from previous class sessions, beyond the four walls of the classroom!
These students were able to use this virtual field trip, getting critical outward enrichment opportunity, bringing real-life application, providing a deeper emersion into the culture they were already learning about.
Our Lab Mentor, Mr. Pertile, partnered with our Theater Teacher, Mr. Calais to support him and his students, helping design and print stage props for the Spring Production of Holes.
This cross-curricular partnership provided our students with a real life opportunity to see one of the many ways Technology impacts the Arts, while giving a glimpse of professional opportunities that they may consider for the future.
For this element our campus is currently Aligning. We have met two of Action Steps and have clear goals moving forward that will push up to Optimizing in Year 4.
