Ensuring that our students have access to devices and internet is paramount for the success of all students. Our team has worked hard to get Chromebooks into the hands of our scholars this year! Ensuring that students and their parents completed all VILS and HISD requirements was a full PHMS team effort!
Parents were provided all required documents, in English and Spanish, in order to provide clear guidelines and expectations prior to deployment.
One of our big incentives this year to help promote completion of the Deployment Requirements was a Meet & Greet with Mexican National Soccer Team members, Ismael Valdez, Alejandro Garcia, Edgar Gonzalez, and Jesus Zavala. They came in and shared with the students who met the requirements by the initial deadline! They were so motivating for our students!
We used our library this year as our primary deployment space and rollout was done in multiple phases.
Families and students gathered for Bridge Camp and Meet & Greet to learn about the campus, including the VILS Program and Chromebook expectations.
Student Tech Team participated in our 8 Days of Lunch & Code, bringing friends along to join the fun!
STT members are designing and printing items to sell as their fundraiser.
In the fall semester we have begun the process of rebuilding our STT and have found a great group of scholars eager and ready to get going in the Spring! Our Lab Mentor assisted with recruiting students in 6th and 7th grade, with the anticipation of adding some 8th graders soon. The first even the STT got to help with was Lunch & Code event during HISD's 12 Days of Code! These scholars came and led the way, bringing peers along to get a taste of coding. They had a blast!
All the members of our Robotics Team are members of the STT and they are preparing for their first competition Jan. 28, 2023 at another local middle school.
