Erica Cantu Tran began her education career 19 years ago serving as a 4th grade ESL teacher for the Houston Independent School District at J.C. Mitchell Elementary. In 2018, Tran was named Principal of Bonham Elementary where she restructured the school and built a community of trust and academic excellence. Tran previously served in Goose Creek CISD as a 3rd grade teacher at Harlem Elementary School then became a reading specialist for grades 3-5, and later an assistant principal at Gentry Junior School. After three years as an assistant principal, Tran was named principal of Horace Mann Junior School, where she led the campus in continuously meeting state standards and earning distinctions in science and reading. Tran earned a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and master’s in Education from Lamar University.
At Patrick Henry Middle School, our mission is to empower our students to become innovative thinkers, collaborative community members, and global leaders by providing a rigorous, technology-infused education that integrates social, emotional, cultural, and academic learning.
My mission as a VILS Coach is to build educators' capacity by facilitating adult learning so educators can increase achievement for all students, provide a rigorous and personalized education supported by technology, and empower all students to succeed in a global society.
