Rules

Tier 1

1)  Game shall begin at 4:00 unless other arrangements have been made.  4:00 - Host vs Closest   5:00 - Closest vs Furthest   6:00 - Host vs Furthest.  Be early so that we can start early if the previous games only play 2 sets.

2) Tier 1 matches are a "Best of Three" format.  The first two games are to 25 points, win by 2, with a cap of 27.  If a third game is necessary, the third game is to 15 points, win by 2, with a cap at 17 (switch sides at 8 points).

3) Substitutions

TIer 1 - A maximum of 10 substitutions can be made per game per team.  Once player A has subbed in for player B, then player B can only sub back in for player A and vice-versa throughout that game.

4) Net Height

Tier 1 Boys - 2.24m

Tier 1 Girls - 2.14m

5) All other South Zone rules apply in the event that something was not specifically covered in these rules.

6) Warmups are only for the "cold" team

7)  Two 30-second time outs per set.

8)  One minute between sets.

Tier 2

These modified rules are to assist in Horizon Athletics' developmental focus for Tier 2:

1)  Game shall begin at 4:00 unless other arrangements have been made.  4:00 - Host vs Closest   5:00 - Closest vs Furthest   6:00 - Host vs Furthest

2) Tier 2 matches are a "Best of Three" format.  The first two games are to 25 points, win by 2, with a cap of 27.  If a third game is necessary, the third game is to 15 points, win by 2, with a cap at 17 (switch sides at 8 points).

3) Game balls shall be Tachikara Volley Lite (can be ordered from www.sportfactor.net for next day delivery)

4) A single server can only serve the ball 5 consecutive times.  After the 5th point is awarded, the serving team must rotate and a new server serves (possession of the serve is maintained).

5) Any player attempting an underhand serve may serve from 2 metres closer to the net.  All overhand serves must follow normal volleyball service rules.

7) Substitutions

Tier 2 - There are unlimited substitutions per game per team.  Player A can sub in for player B, but then player B can sub back in for ANY PLAYER.  It does not have to be for player A provided the coach is not trying to sub a player in and out so that he/she can serve every other rotation. Some coaches might want to rotate the server out and the next player on the bench in.  This is acceptable.

8) Net Height

Tier 2 Boys - 2.14m

Tier 2 Girls - 2.04m

9) Warmups are only for the "cold" team

10)  Two 30-second time outs per set.

11)  One minute between sets.
