"The Box" Assignment
"The Box" Assignment
- The assignment is as follows...
- Find a cardboard box at home (this can be any size or shape, a cereal box, shoe box, packing box, etc).
- Use this box to create a 3 dimensional object.
- The box is the complete source of materials for your creation.
- You may use any type of "connecting" material you want (tape, glue, string, staples, etc.) but you can only choose two types of connecting materials and those methods must be incorporated into the design.
- You all will receive one individual directive from Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies. The Directive must become an imbedded idea in your creation.
- Some Things to Think About:
What type of "actions" can you use to transform the materials into something different and surprising?

How can you use the inherent qualities of the materials to drive your process?

How might you "rethink" your own perceptions of what the materials are and what their origins represent?
