During the second half of Trimester 3, we studied voice acting techniques and practiced our intonation, pitch, rhythm, accent, and projection. Then, we made puppets out of found objects in our homes. Students not only had to create their own puppet, but they had to invent a character and voice for their new friend as well. These videos are what we call Puppet Bios. Each puppet will introduce themselves and tell you a little bit about their lives. Enjoy! - Ms. VanHentenryck

We worked on A Midsummer Night's Dream as a class together right before school closed.
As our major HM Online assignment, students were asked to analyze, translate, memorize, rehearse, and film themselves performing a monologue of their choice from the play. - Ms. VanHentenryck

Students explore the world of Commedia Dell'Arte. This popular form of theatre from the Italian Renaissance is the grandsire of comedy improv. Performers would use stock characters and formulaic storylines to create public impromptu performances. The performers wore masks that identified their character and moved in easily identifiable and exaggerated ways. The characters and stories from Commedia are still in use today. We see them in the comedy we enjoy in our own times. Students will create their own interpretations of the characters from Commedia. - Mr. Posner
