Brief Biography:

  • Retired and living in Pincher Creek
  • Two sons – Jeremy (& Patty) and Regan, 2 grandchildren – Raina & Asher
  • Volunteer for “Angels Within Us”, “Windy Slopes Health Foundation” and “Friends of the Library” (all raise funds to support our local community)
  • Involved in Catholic education for 48 years – 3 in high school, 34 teaching (all with Holy Spirit), 7 as a substitute teacher, 4 as a trustee with Holy Spirit, and now I'm adding another 4 as trustee!
  • Down time lets me practice craftology (knit, crochet, cross stitch), read and write (I have published), and embark on my newest adventure of public speaking and storytelling

I can live, love and laugh because I have faith, family and friends!

Why do you want to serve as a Trustee for Holy Spirit Catholic Schools?

I serve as a trustee with Holy Spirit Catholic Schools because I love kids! Our ever-changing world must focus on our youth! Whitney Houston sang “I believe the children are our future, Teach them well and let them lead the way…”

I serve as a trustee because of my faith and my personal journey. Our children must come to realize God is the constant in their fast-paced world. And in the end, there is only one goal – eternal life and our kids need to get that message.

I serve because I love my community and the support they give me. Being a voice for one of our rural schools is very important to me and I know my electorate knows I am active in contributing to our Division’s success. I love what I do and I do what I love.

In your opinion, what's the most important issue facing Catholic education today?

Survival! I'm concerned that if we don't advocate for Catholic education we will lose it.

And being a parent to many … feed the hungry…

Also, teaching our kids about God and not the social media gods.

Who was your most influential teacher/educator and why?

My most influential teacher was my junior high teacher - Mel Edlund. He was my friend more than teacher or coach and was a Catholic teaching in a public school. Seeing him in our little rural church Sunday mornings sent such an unknown message to me! I don’t remember what he taught but I do remember HIM – he was always humble and kind!
