HC mathematics
The Holy Cross Math Department strives to develop students to be confident and skilled mathematical thinkers. Not only do we focus on developing strong foundational math skills, but also being able to apply mathematical concepts to the real world. In all of our courses, students work to develop their reasoning and analyzing skills, learn to understand and solve a variety of questions, communicate and represent their math in meaningful ways and connect and reflect on real-world issues and personal interests.
Highlights about the Holy Cross math department:
Science 8 and Math 8 are taken together, allowing for opportunities to connect the two subjects
Opportunities to apply for the Math Honours program in Grade 9 and 10
Participation in Nationwide Math contests at all grade levels
Workplace 10 offered
Peer tutoring program (senior students paired with junior students who request extra support in their math studies)
Math tutorials by classroom teachers to support math learning
Interactive hands-on and digital resources used to enhance math learning
