Community Need:

Mask Mission is a group working to inform our community on the importance of wearing masks during 2020. Our project is a Mask Drive to collect Medical Grade Masks to donate to local senior homes. Our Mask Drive is taking place in the high school and will last for a couple weeks, we have boxes set up in the front office as well other places around school. We also have a box in the lobby of Miller Elementary School. Not only are we collecting masks, we are informing our peers and community with educational information about mask wearing. We post this information on our instagram @mask_missionhhs. We have also posted on facebook so we gain more people in the community to know about our project.

Project Goals and Progress-

• When we first started our project we began thinking about who needed our help the most in this pandemic. We decided to reach out to local senior homes because we were hoping they would want to work with us. Luckily they said yes and that is when our idea to host a mask drive started.

• Our goal is to collect as many Medical Grade Masks to donate to the local senior homes by the end of the month. Our progress has not been super smooth because this was not our original plan. We first wanted to connect with the elementary school and present to the students and have them decorate their own masks. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we were not allowed to visit other schools.

• Currently we are posting information and hoping others can help us by donating to the boxes around school.

How Our Community Can Help-

Our community can help by donating to our Mask Drive. We are asking for Medical Grade Masks specifically which can be found on Amazon, Target and any convenient store. We are hoping to get as many masks as possible with the help of our town and community. The boxes are located in the front lobby, by the cafeteria, and in the glass hallway of Holliston High School and in the front lobby of Miller Elementary until December 1st. Depending on how much we collect, we might extend the date in order to be more successful. Everyone can also follow our instagram @mask_missionhhs

Action Plan-

For right now: As of right now we are focusing on collecting masks and getting donations. We have reached out to our friends, teams, and our town as a whole; to let them know where to drop off any masks they are willing to donate.

For the overall project: In the early stages of the project we decided to switch out idea which left us at a stopping point; until we came up with the idea of a mask drive. We made posters and brought in bins to start off and the following day we put all of them to use; one is located in the glass hallway, and the other is by the cafeteria doors. We then decided that two bins just in the High School wasn't going to be enough; so we drove around to local businesses in hopes of them letting us keep a bin in their association. Unfortunately we got turned down until we reached out to the Elementary Schools. There is now three bins, the third one is in the Miller Elementary lobby. During this whole processes, we have been staying in touch with our partnerships. They are both still on board and love the idea!! The rest of this project is on track and the future looks good for us! We can't wait to see what's next!!

Updates -

Currently trying to get more donations, and figuring out new ways to get donations rather than setting up boxes around the Elementary and High school. In the future we will be donating these masks to.

Community Partnership-

We reached out by email and phone calls to local senior homes. We are partnered with Fairview Estates in Hopkinton MA and The Residence at Valley Farm in Ashland MA.
