We promote improved academic performance and student persistence through strategies that lead to active learning, engagement, and self-regulation. Axinn Library - is an academic support resource for undergraduate students that is here to help you succeed in your classes! We promote improved academic performance and student persistence through strategies that lead to active learning, engagement, and self-regulation.
We offer academic consultations to help you better understand yourself as a student and learner. This includes creating plans to achieve your academic goals, discussing study habits and opportunities for growth, and helping you address academic challenges.
Based on your academic consultation, our staff may work with you on building your skills in areas like time management, goal setting, note-taking strategies, learning strategies, and test preparation.
We also offer free tutoring services provided by our Undergraduate Tutorial Program (UTP). Our UTP tutors are Hofstra students who have done exceptionally well in their classes and have been endorsed by their faculty to assist their peers. They offer one-on-one appointments in popular subjects like foreign languages and psychology, for example, or host walk-in hours for various natural sciences courses. UTP is not the only tutoring resource available on campus, and we may connect you with our colleagues in other departments like the Math Tutoring Center or Writing Center.
Our main goal in the Center for Academic Excellence is to help you navigate and take advantage of all of the free campus support resources available that will help you succeed academically.
