PROCESS PAPER RULE 18. PROCESS PAPER A process paper is required for projects in every category. The process paper must be 500 words or fewer, and must not include quotes, images, or captions (Figure 4, p. 24). The process paper words are counted separately and are not part of the word count in the paper, exhibit, or website categories.

Your process paper must answer the following questions:

The first section should explain How did you choose your topic and how does it relate to the annual theme?

  • We researched in class

  • It relates to the theme

  • Why you like it

The second section should explain How did you conduct your research?

  • The second section should explain how you conducted your research. For example, was it difficult to find primary sources for your topic? Where did you go to find your sources?

  • Include Library- Field trip

  • Started with a book- name the book

  • Made research questions to break it down

  • Important website

The third section should explain How did you create your project?

  • Why you picked the category

  • Made an outline

  • What you needed to do to put it together- possibly

The fourth section should explain What is your historical argument?

  • What is your thesis? and why

  • How does it relate to the theme?

The fifth section should explain In what ways is your topic significant in history?

500 word limit. This word limit does not include your exhibit, or website word limit.
