Reading

Click on the arrow to see this week's reading instructions.

If you haven't done so yet, we'd like you to take a look at your first MyON project, which is linked to our theme. You should complete this by the end of term (17th July). You will find details below.

You can also enjoy listening to the 'The Iron Woman', the sequel to 'The Iron Man'. You can find all the chapters below. The book has an important message about looking after our planet. We hope you enjoy it!

Do keep reading as often as possible, sharing your book with an adult if you can. If you're running out of books to read and have a device you can use to read online, you could choose an e-book. You can find free e-books on the myON website, on Oxford Owl and from the library service (see details towards the bottom of this page.)

We love hearing about the books you've been reading and there are some super reviews on our Flipgrid. If you haven't added one yet, this is your last chance! Tell us the name of the book and author, why you enjoyed it and who you would recommend it to - just like you would have done if we were in our classroom!

Finally, don't forget about the Summer Reading Challenge from Cumbria Libraries - all details are at the end of this page.

You will need a Google login from school to use the Flipgrid. To get yours, just email: homelearninghelp@heronhill.cumbria.sch.uk

Other books you may enjoy with your family

A local teacher, at Ingleton Primary School, has written a story about a child called Parsley Mimblewood who has never been to school! It's a wonderful book which might help you understand how you are feeling in these strange times of Lockdown. Click on the link to download the book for FREE! We hope you enjoy reading it!

Some of you may enjoy having a look at the 'Book of Hopes', which you could also share with your family. Lots of children's authors have got together in the last few weeks to write short stories and poems to make us smile during this time. You can find the book using the link below.
