Number Bonds to 10
The term 'number bonds' just means number facts or numbers that go together to make a total. For example, the numbers 3 and 5 'bond' or add together to make a total of 8.
Number bonds to 10 are pairs of numbers that, when added together, give the number 10. They can also be called 'number pairs' or 'number partners'. Examples are 1 & 9, 7 & 3 and 5 & 5.
It is important that children can instantly recall their number bonds because they need to use them all the time in maths. These resources will help your child to build their speed...and hopefully they'll have lots of fun with them!

2-4 players: print, cut up, shuffle the cards and deal them out. Read out a question such as 'Who has 5 + 5?' Person with 'I am 10' answers, then reads out one of their questions. Winner is the person who has played all their cards.
One player: shuffle and lay out all the cards, then play to answer each question. Perhaps time yourself with a stopwatch to complete the task. Play 3 times, aiming to improve pace each time.
