Per the HCS Gradual and Staggered Return to On-Campus Learning Plan, students who opt into on-campus learning are also committing to the COVID-19 mitigation protocols that are in place. Masks are required on HCS buses and on HCS campuses. Exceptions may apply for a student’s special circumstances with a verifiable doctor’s note. Any special circumstances will need to be shared with the school before students return to campus.

Library Media Center Check-Out Procedures
❏ Students at Smith-Barnes Elementary will have the opportunity to choose any book they wish! We have established some guidelines for helping students to choose books during this COVID-19 pandemic.
❏ Keeping the library safe is important for both staff and students when it comes to materials. Therefore, the lessons from Electric Catalog Search Part I and II have prepared students to search the catalog systems for books they are interested in checking out of the media center.
❏ Using their Chromebook students can search the electric catalog or Destiny Discover to locate books they would like to checkout. Once they have selected their books Mrs. Jeffrey-Smith will document the book titles and student name in her system. During their usual selection time Mrs. Jeffrey-Smith or Miss. Moss will go to the shelves to retrieve the books and sign them out in the student’s name.
❏ The easiest, safest, and most inexpensive disinfectant is time, so upon the return of books they will be housed on the check-in cart for three days before allowing them to be checked out again.
Use hand sanitizer upon entry and exit.
Masks will be worn in the media center.
Media staff will wipe down tables between classes.
Schedule will be created for each team to limit the number of students in the media center at one time.
Classes will receive media lessons and check out books.
Remote Learners will be allowed to check out books and return books to the school.
