Multiplication is not just repeated addition. It is a scalar (magnitude) process involving two quantities, with one quantity—the multiplier—serving as a scaling factor and specifying how the operation resizes, or rescales, the other quantity—the multiplicative unit. The rescaled result is the product of the multiplication.
The magnitude can increase in size or decrease in size.
Multiplying a given number by a fraction greater than one results in a product greater than the given number.
Multiplying a given number by a fraction less than one results in a product smaller than the given number.
