Reflect. Inspire. Self-Awareness. Empower
Henry County Schools has created HenryR.I.S.E., a research-based personal development program to help educators achieve well-being. Through the program, new teachers have the opportunity to learn about and apply concrete strategies to avoid and manage the most common pitfalls of the educator experience. Mental Health and Wellness Facilitators are the staff members responsible for delivering the content to new teachers at each building.
First, you will work with your New Teacher Mentor (you can ask you admin who that is) to find out who your new teachers are. Once we know the HEART training schedule for the year, you can coordinate training with the New Teacher Mentor if you need to facilitate the sessions for HenryR.I.S.E. at your school.
This document will walk you through everything you need to do to prepare to present a session.
BEFORE YOU PRESENT:
Coordinate the time with your New Teacher Mentor.
Invite all new teachers.
Familiarize yourself with the session.
Print out the packet for each attendee.
You can contact another facilitator to see when they are presenting so you can watch them for the first time to feel more comfortable.
DURING PRESENTATION:
Follow along with the prompts to facilitate discussion, group work, participation.
Be mindful of the time.
Each session should take about 10 - 20 minutes.
Allow time for teachers to talk, share, and bond. This is an important part of the process.
AFTER PRESENTATION
Have new teachers complete the End of Session Form after each session. The link is on the presentation and in the participant guide. Participant Response Survey
Follow-up with teachers to make sure they are doing well through the weeks after the presentation. Stop in to offer support.
