CAD VISITS THE JOB SITE
CAD 1 students got the opportunity to visit a job site of a commercial construction project. The superintendents of the project and ARCO Design/Build company showed us the safety video, gave us a tour of the job site, and taught us a lot of new things!

Electricity I students have been working on completing their competencies as well as demonstrating their hands on skills in the lab and at the house building project. First year student, Derek Londeree represented us at the State SkillsUSA competition over Spring break and placed 12th.... way to go Derek!!!!
Electricity II students have been busy trimming out the house building project. They are installing all of the fixtures and turning on circuits, watching all their hard work come to fruition!!
PlayHouse Final Stages
Carpentry students have been hard at work building this year's playhouse for CASA. Both classes have contributed greatly to this high profile project. The finished house will be delivered to Libbie Mill Library April 21. If you have a chance stop by while it is on display.
House 20 Finishing Touches
Masonry students have been hard at work building piers for the porch on the back deck of the house. Students learned how to put together scaffolding to set up for Carpentry students who will now build the deck.
On Site Training
The HVAC 1 and 2 students have been learning so much the past few weeks going on rotations with HCPS Construction and Maintenance. They have gotten a lot of hands on skills and are leaning what it is like to work on commercial sites such as schools.

Designing & Exploring
Students in CAD 2 went on a field trip to the AFSA career fair held at Regency, and got to explore different careers within the fire protection field! Students in both classes have also been hard at work designing and producing items that will be for sale at the ACE Expo this week March 6th and 7th.

meanwhile, back at the ranch...Our Electricity II students are honing their skills while interviewing with contractors to obtain full time employment! We already have (6) students who will be participating in our Signing Day event as they have obtained full time employment upon Graduation!!!!
Cornhole Project
Carpentry students have been busy completing an order for cornhole boards. Carpentry 2 students began the project at the Career Rodeo with Carpentry 1 joining them on the project. This is just one of the major projects underway for our program! Look for updates on the House project and our signature Playhouse which is just beginning.

A.C.E. DAY 2025
HVAC 1 and HVAC 2 students are joining forces to showcase their knowledge and skills to the community. The students have organized informational booths, complete with slide shows, to provide valuable DIY tips on how to properly maintain HVAC units and appliances. This event allows the students to share their expertise while helping individuals gain a better understanding of HVAC care and maintenance.
CAD I Students have been busy learning about different types of residences, including Tiny Homes! Before the break, they got to design and create a scaled model of a tiny home.
CAD II Students participated in the Career Rodeo, in which they showcased their design skills in Revit to create a restaurant in front of potential employers!
Electricity I Students have been busy learning about different residential wiring methods and perfecting those skills in their Booth!
Electricity II Students are busy getting ready for the Career Rodeo, in which they will showcase their Skills in front of potential employers!
Masonry students are building piers with anchor bolts to secure the deck that will be built in the rear of the home.
Carpentry recently welcomed elementary students from around the County where they learned about the trade and made coinhole boards.
Carpentry I and II students are finally having their turn on working at the house project this year. They have been busy hanging drywall which is rapdily transforming the house into a home.
HVAC students are working with copper in the lab. Second year students are learning how to bronze pipes together. First year students are cutting, bending, and connecting.
Students in CAD attended the historic trades expo learning about the different kinds of historical trade jobs. They also got the chance to visit Bogeys Sports park to talk with them about Wiffle Golf with plans to help Henrico county parks and rec build a course at Dorey Park.
Electricity I students have started working in their booths, learning how to wire receptacles. These students are working very diligently in not just learning a new skill, but perfecting those skills. After they complete their wiring projects, the Instructors critique the project to ensure the student has learned the skills being taught.
Electricity II students are wrapping up the Rough-in part of the House Building Project and have done a FANTASTIC job. They are working extremely hard and they can now add wiring a house to their resume....We are VERY proud of how they remained focused on this big project!
Carpentry II students assisted the Cosmetology department by installing new cabinets for students to store their lab supplies in the Cosmetology lab. They also got into the spirit of Halloween decorating our only door for the ACE Spirit of Halloween contest.
Masonry II students have been working hard to finish this wall on the right side foundation of House #20 so that vinyl siding can be installed next.
HVAC students were able to work at House 20 this fall to help install the new HVAC system going into this home. The rough in was completed and they will be back this spring to complete the final installation.
CAD 1 students have been working hard on their orthographic drawing skills, and fine tuning their 3D modeling. Next week they will be using the 3D printer to produce their designs.
CAD 2 students worked with students from the cosmetology class to help them produce floorplans for their future salons. The cosmetology students were their "clients" and they had to work together to make sure their designs were exactly what they wanted.
Electricity Day 1 students have started learning about Electrical hand tools and have started learning a few skills, such as: stripping wire and making hooks to terminate on devices.
Electricity 2 students have started wiring the house building project and should have the rough in completed in a few weeks!
Carpentry Day 2 students have been hard at work in the lab completing several projects which were left from last year and was received over the summer. This has been a great way for them to refresh their skills and also learn some new ones.
Carpentry Day 1 students have been busy learning about OSHA and Workplace Readiness. While they have not worked in the lab yet they are learning valuable skills which will help them succeed once all of the testing is complete.
Masonry students have been hard at work installing our brick wall on the sides of our house project.
First year HVAC students are earning their OSHA 10 cards and 2nd year students have been working with Electricity students to prepare to go to the House project. HVAC will be installing the home HVAC system in September at the House Project.
Welcome to Computer Aided Drafting, where students get the opportunity to learn and explore Drafting, Architecture and Engineering Industries.
CAD I has been busy working on their math skills, learning their line types, and practicing orthographic views, as well as Workplace Readiness skills to prepare them for their WPR Certification test later this month.
CAD II students spent the last two weeks researching for their plans after high school. From college plans, military, or straight into the workforce, students diligently identified their goals, deadlines and qualifications for each option they chose. They are now working on refreshing their drafting skills from last year to interpret engineering drawings. These students will take the knowledge and skills that they obtained last year and will put them into real world, practical experience!!!!!

Electricity II students are working on refreshing their electrical safety knowledge in preparation for wiring the house building project in a few weeks. These students will take the knowledge and skills that they obtained last year and will put them into real world, practical experience!!!!!

Career Rodeo 2025
HVAC 2 students coming together to help each other best demonstrate the skills that they learned this year at the Rodeo. The students are excited about the different employment opportunities ahead of them this year.
