The Computer-Aided Drafting program is an exciting 2-year course where students gain an understanding of how to create technical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and 3D models using the latest CAD software. Students learn the fundamentals of drafting by producing working drawings before moving into 3D modeling. Students use 3D printers and laser cutters/engravers to produce real models of their designs. The basics of rendering are introduced to students allowing them to start creating complex virtual interiors, models, and environments. This class prepares students for a career in the drafting, design, architecture or engineering industry. Working alongside other building trades, students learn how a true construction site operates. Many students are offered employment upon graduation or pursue higher education for a career in the drafting industry.
Students will earn up to 12 college credits through Reynolds Community College.
Students will have opportunities to connect with businesses in the field of drafting, architecture, and construction.
Students will have opportunities to visit construction and manufacturing sites.
Opportunities to participate in SkillsUSA competitions at the district, state, and national levels.
