Student have the opportunity to receive:
◾ OSHA 10 hour card ◾ Workplace Readiness Certification
◾ National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Level 1 Carpentry Certificate
◾ NCCER Core Certificate
The Carpentry program is a 2 program that prepares students for a career in the construction industry. Students learn workplace safety earning their OSHA 10 certification and the NCCER Core and Carpentry 1 apprenticeship card. The focus of the program is to teach a variety of construction techniques laying a foundation for a job in residential construction by building a custom home. Working alongside other building trades students they learn how a true construction site operates. Many students are offered employment upon graduation or pursue higher education for a career in the construction industry.
Students will work on the House Building Project and gain experience working on an actual house in the community.
Students will have opportunities to visit construction and manufacturing sites.
Opportunities to participate in SkillsUSA competitions at the State Fair and other locations.
Mr. Childress is the son of local custom home builder and life long carpenter and woodworker. He entered teaching in order to pass along his vast knowledge of cabinetmaking, carpentry, and homebuilding to the next generation.
