The Carpentry 2 class visited Short Pump Mall to see their Playhouse on display along with the other entries. Students took pride in the hard work and craftsmanship it took to complete this project.
In April, we competed in the state Skills USA competition in Virginia Beach. The last part of the senior year is to find an employer as shown at a recent job fair. Several students received scholarships -- and also job offers! Wishing good luck to each and every graduate!
The Electricity I students have been hard at work, finishing up their Module Tests and Performance Profiles to be able to earn their NCCER Core Certification! With a little over 80% already having this completed and with a few more days left to test, our number will only continue to RISE!!!
Electricity II students have PASSED the Final Electrical Inspection at the Regency Project! These students worked EXTREMELY hard over the past year to make this goal happen. To celebrate, we ate Rapid Pizza's Party Pizza (the BIGGEST pizza around!)

A few weeks ago students in both CAD 1 and CAD 2 competed in the SkillsUSA state competitions. We now have a state officer, and third-place winners in 3D Visualization and Animation! Students also got the chance to visit the completed playhouse we designed for Henrico CASA Home for Good project.
As we remember the events of this school year... Day 2 students and Day 1 seniors are looking forward to starting their new careers, schools, and service, and the rest are looking forward to next year when we move into our new facility
Masonry students are learning details of block work and glass blocks. They are evaluated on scale, level, plumb, range, and appearance of each project.
This past weekend, one of Mr. Person's apprenticeship students placed 1st in the SkillsUSA competition held at Virginia Beach!
Carpentry I and II students have been busy building projects for the local community. Carpentry I students built a Food Pantry for Mehfoud Elementary where food will shared to those in need.
Both classes have been busy working on the CASA playhouse designed by fellow CAD Students. The playhouse is nearing completion and will be on display at Short Pump Towne Center April 21- May 8. Purchase a raffle ticket to win.
Students in the Electricity 2 class have been preparing for life after High School. We have 15 of our Seniors already hired for their full-time employment into the Electrical Field upon Graduation!!!

Students in the CAD 2 class have been preparing for the Henrico 21 event this Wednesday at Glen Allen High School. They will get to showcase their experiences from the Henrico Career Rodeo Event last month, and how they had the opportunity to design a commercial restaurant, prepare a resume, and talk to potential employers in the architecture and construction industry.
Students worked collaboratively to built a sign in the West End for Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad.
First year students have been troubleshooting electric controls in the lab.

Carpentry students have eagerly started the building of the CASA playhouse designed by fellow CAD students. This year's theme is "Toy Shop". Look for the finished product at Short Pump Towne Center the end of April and buy a raffle ticket!!!
Senior students in the Electricity Programs showcased their skills in our Annual Rodeo event. This event allows students to perform tasks from their industry, while contractors spectate and look to fill their future workforce!
Students in the CAD and 3D Animation class competed in the District 2 SkillsUSA competitions this week. Four teams (of two students) competed in the 3D Visualization and Animation competition, and three students competed in the Architectural Drafting competition. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held at Powhatan High School on Saturday, February 25th, 2023. First and second-place winners in animation, as well as first-place in architecture, will advance to the state competition at Virginia Beach in April!

First year Carpentry students listened to representatives from Clark Construction as they shared about varied paths into the construction industry and what their current roles entail. Both Carpentry 1 and 2 classes have been prepping and installing the many doors for the new classrooms at the Regency Square Project.
Our 1st year students have started putting their skills to good use at the Regency Project, as well as knocking out Modules in their NCCER Curriculum to earn their Core Certification.
Our 2nd year students have been busy working at Regency, trying to finish the home stretch to enable Adult Education to take place in the newly renovated space at Regency. They also have been learning to bend conduit in the lab.
The CAD & 3D Animation students have been busy designing and producing things for projects in the community. Students were tasked with designing and 3D printing special markers for the cots at the Springer Daycare Academy. We've also been out at Regency performing measurements to assist in the blueprints for the new sprinkler system going in.
The HVACR & Plumbing Day 2 students have been learning about servicing and repairing ice makers. We've also been out at Regency performing a site surveys where we measure and draw the existing duct system so they can be drawn into a new site plan.
Masonry students collaborated with ACE Center at Virginia Randolph to construct a pyramid using their mason skills!
The Carpentry I and II students have been working hard this year learning new skills. During recruiting week Carpentry I students built a park bench for Short Pump Elementary.
Carpentry II students continue to work at Regency where walls continue to be covered with Sheetrock.
The Electricity I students have begun wiring projects in their booths. They are already wiring multiple receptacles! They have also started their "Real World" practical experience by working at our Regency Mall Project!
Electricity II students have been working tirelessly at the Regency Mall Project as we work towards completing the rough in phases.....HOWEVER, we made some time to set up the Central Office Holiday Tree as we get ready for the Holiday Season!
The CAD & 3D Animation students worked together in teams to use their creative thinking and problem-solving skills to escape the classroom! This is a great skill students will need for the upcoming architecture unit. Over the next few weeks, students will learn about residential architecture and begin designing houses with the Revit software.
The HVACR & Plumbing Day 2 students will be starting a new competency this week on Servicing and Maintaining Fossil Fuel Heating Systems.
Masonry students from ACE Highland Springs and ACE Virginia Randolph combined for an fun learning experience with Allied Concrete. On site students were able learn more about the concrete and how products are made/constructed.
The Carpentry I and II students are working hard removing the final sections of old walls and replacing with new walls at the Regency project. We now have industry partners ,Wilton Construction, working side by side showing students on best practices of removal and reconstruction.
Carpentry II students met with our local building officials to learn about what they look for in a building inspection. The deputy building official and his lead inspectors worked with students on what they look for in reviewing a job site for compliance and safety.
The Electricity I students are in the lab and putting in the work to learn the electrical trade. They are working on the foundational skills that will be the key to their success in the workplace!!
Electricity II is putting their skills to use at the Regency Square Mall project. Wall rough-in has begun and students are working alongside other trades on an active commercial job site. Electricity I students will soon be getting in on the action now that their OSHA training has been completed.
Students in The CAD & 3D Animation I class have been learning hand drafting techniques, 3D printing, bridge design, and starting their technical drawings in AutoCAD.
CAD & 3D Animation II students got the chance to visit the Virginia State Fair for the Educational Expo last week. They have hit the ground running with new drawings and designs. Additionally, we have already begun preparing for SkillsUSA district competitions!
The HVACR & Plumbing Day 1 students learning about safe and proper ladder handling and use. This week they've completed and passed the OSHA 10 hour Construction Safety Certification. Next, get ready for hands on work, fitting pipes and tubing.
The Masonry I students learned about the basic hand tools. They will also be trained and become certified in NCCER Core Curriculum & NCCER Masonry Level I. Also, getting the shop ready for hands on learning and laying brick.
The Carpentry I and II students have already traveled to our current project site -- Regency Square where we are hard at work remodeling former department stores into Adult Education classrooms. Carpentry I students were given a tour of the project site and met one of our industry partners, Mr. Mike Chaney owner of James River Exteriors.
Carpentry II Students are busy working on the next phase of demolition work. The final product will be new classroom space that is modern and welcoming that will increase student engagement.
The Electricity I students are off and running, working hard to complete their 10 hour OSHA certification...that's right, 2nd week of School and ALREADY earning their 1st Certification!!!
